The Vineyarder girls lacrosse team worked out a 12-8 win in the team’s first-ever win over Falmouth Academy in a Thursday road game. The win boosts the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) record to 4-0 in the Cape and Islands League (C and I) and 4-1 overall. Falmouth Academy dropped to 4-1 in both the C and I and overall this season.
Addy Hayman and Louise McDonald scored four times, and Skyla Harthcock had two goals, in a competitive game that MVRHS led 8-6 at halftime. Hayman and McDonald added early second-half goals to extend the final margin to four goals. Lollie Bazahler and Abby Marchand each contributed second-half insurance goals for the purple and white.
The Vineyarders play next Tuesday at 11:15 am at Falmouth High School. The Clippers are a familiar MVRHS foe in games that are generally a tussle. “We’ve won and lost, they’ve always been good. We always look forward to playing Falmouth,” assistant Coach Bob Hayman said.
