The Queen has returned.

No, we’re not talking about Daenerys Targaryen on “Game of Thrones,” we’re talking about Dairy Queen in Edgartown.

The Island’s cherished frozen novelty outlet officially returned for the season at noon on Friday — right before the Easter weekend.

Isaac Trance, 9, and his brother Ilija, 4, got to Dairy Queen a half-hour early to be the first ones in line.

Ilija, who was running and jumping in excitement, got his favorite, a cherry-dipped twist.

When asked how his ice cream tasted, Ilija gave an emphatic thumbs-up.

Isaac made his decision once he was inside — the classic Oreo Blizzard.

It was a quiet start, but a steady stream of customers began to fill the small building and sit on the deck and porches outside.

Annie Bettencourt is starting her third year as a Dairy Queen employee, and said she’s excited to start the season. Her favorite thing to order is anything with malt flavoring. “It feels good. It’s nice to have it open,” Bettencourt said. “It’s a good sign spring is here.”

Manager Max Celeste said it was “good” and “refreshing” to have Dairy Queen up and running. Celeste has been a busy man: His daughter, Noa, was born only four weeks ago.

Dairy Queen will be open from 12 pm to 8 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
