MVRHS girls lacrosse tops league rival St. John Paul ll, 19-9

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) girls lacrosse team took a 4-0 league record into Tuesday’s contest against the visiting 4-0 Lions of St. John Paul ll and came away with an impressive 19-9 victory. The hosts broke open a close game with four consecutive goals late in the first half and rode that momentum the rest of the way.

Senior Louise McDonald led the scoring for the Vineyarders with seven goals. Senior Addy Hayman and junior Skyla Harthcoack had four goals each, and Addy led the way with nine assists. Freshman Lila Mikos was outstanding in goal with 13 saves.

The Vineyard girls are now 5-0 in the Cape & islands League and 6-1 overall. They will host Barnstable on Wednesday, April 24 at 3 pm, in another league matchup against Barnstable High School.
