Girls and boys tennis remain undefeated with wins over Sturgis West

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) girls tennis team defeated Sturgis West Charter School on Tuesday at home by a score of four matches to one. The girls currently lead the Cape & Islands League with a 6-0 record.

The Vineyarders swept the three singles matches. Senior co-captains Kelly Klaren, first singles, and Victoria Scott, second singles, defeated their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Third singles Hannah Rabasca took her match 6-3, 6-0. In the doubles, the number one pairing of Molly Pogue and Chesca Potter won 6-3, 6-4 while number two Alexandra Rego and Tessa Hammond fell 7-5, 6-1.

The boys tennis team also defeated Sturgis West on Tuesday, taking three of the five matches, and also improved to 6-0 on the year. First singles Chris Ferry of the Vineyard dropped his match by a 6-3, 7-5 score. Second singles Max Potter and third singles Eric Reubens were victorious by 7-5, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 scores respectively. The hosts split the doubles matches. First doubles team Owen Favreau and Spencer Pogue took their match 6-3, 6-2, while second doubles David Krauthamer and Ben Belisle lost 6-3, 6-2.

Both girls and boys teams will play at Nantucket on Saturday, April 27.
