The MVRHS girls lacrosse team improved to 9-1 overall and 8-0 in Cape and Islands League play with two wins in four days, clinching a berth in the state tournament.
On Saturday, the Vineyarders took the fast ferry to Nantucket and left the Whalers on the short end of an 18-8 score. Louise McDonald scored six goals, and Skyla Harthcock netted five. Addy Hayman totaled four goals and five assists, Alexis Condon had a goal and three assists, and Abby Marchand added a goal and two assists. Defender Megan Zeilinger had a great clear, and chipped in a goal.
Tuesday, at Simpkins Field in South Yarmouth, the girls took the wind out of the Sturgis East Storm, 15-3. The Vineyarders spread the wealth offensively. Skyla Harthcock scored four goals, Addy Hayman racked up seven points with a hat trick and four assists, Alexis Condon and Sophie Combra each picked up a goal and two assists, Louise McDonald tallied twice, Sally Caron added a goal and an assist, Megan Zeilinger and Abby Marchand chipped in a goal apiece, and freshman Braedyn Clark scored her first varsity goal.
The Vineyarders return to Simpkins Field on May 2 to take on Sturgis West.
