At the July 1, 1:15 pm game of the Edgartown Bridge Club, 12 tables were in play. First place in the North-South direction went to Sandy and Michael Lindheimer, followed by Deirdre Ling and Carol Whitmarsh in second, John O’Keefe and Rich Peia in third, Dave Donald and Barbara Silk in fourth, and Bea Phear and Mollie Whalen in fifth place. In the East-West direction, Ann Brown and Ted Poretz finished first, followed by Judy Maynes and Wendy Wolf in second, Jerri Grannis and Louise Marx in third, Barbara Besse and Wink Winkelman in fourth, and George and Isabel Shattuck in fifth place.
Eight tables were in play for a club championship game at the July 2, 7 pm game of the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven. First place overall went to Barbara Besse and Sandy Lindheimer, followed by Rachel Alpert and Barbara McLagen in second, Bea Phear and Mollie Whalen in third, Pamela Furtsch and Diane Drake in fourth, and Joan Perrine and Diana Dozier in fifth place overall. Also earning masterpoints for third place in the North-South direction were Iris Capobianco and Jim Kaplan.
No game was held on July 4 at the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury.
And at the July 6, 9:30 game of the Bridge Club of Martha’s Vineyard, seven tables were in play. Finishing in first place in the North-South direction were Carol Whitmarsh and Deirdre Ling, followed by Hester Boxill and Colleen Morris in second, and Eric Stricoff and Rhonda Cohen in third. For East-West pairs, Sergio De Chiara and Judith Spruance finished first, followed by Caroline Croft and Mary Wagner in second, and Emily Robertson and Tillie Foster in third place.
At the June 29 game, six tables competed. First place in the North-South direction went to Cheryl Neal and Dotti Arnold, followed by Deirdre Ling and Carol Whitmarsh in second place. For East-West, Hester Boxill and Tillie Foster finished first, followed by Susan and Malcolm Goodrich in second place.
