The Tisbury board of selectmen will hold a public hearing Friday morning at 9:30 at Katharine Cornell Theater to consider whether to issue a beer and wine license for Beach Road Weekend, the three-day music festival scheduled Aug. 9-11.
Promoter Adam Epstein has proposed a wristband system for selling drinks that will limit consumption. And because Tisbury has special legislation, Epstein said recently, concertgoers would be required to purchase food with alcohol.
Selectmen have been supportive of the idea of allowing beer and wine sales to cut down on binge drinking ahead of the concert, or having people sneak it in. The only question was whether the town could issue a license for town property, in this case Veterans Memorial Park in Tisbury.
