At the July 29, 1:15 game of the Edgartown Bridge Club, 16 tables were in play for a club championship game. First place overall went to Lolly Hand and Diane Drake, followed by John O’Keefe and Rich Peia in second, Barbara Silk and Dave Donald in third, Wendy Wolf and Judy Maynes in fourth, Barbara Besse and Wink Winkelman in fifth, and Story Osborne and Audrey Egger in sixth place overall. Also earning masterpoints for finishing third through sixth in the North-South direction were Richard Eubanks and Duncan Walton, Warren Morse and Gail Farrish, Sandy and Michael Lindheimer, and Bea Phear and Mollie Whalen. And Tania Zouikin and Joanne Rau earned points for finishing in fifth place East-West, while Molly Mattoon and Judy Cronig finished sixth.
Twelve pairs competed in another club championship at the July 30, 7 pm game of the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven. First place overall went to Rachel Alpert and Barbara McLagan, followed by Carol Whitmarsh and Bari Boyer in second, Michael Lindheimer and John O’Keefe in third, David Donald and Michel Riel in fourth, and Mollie Whalen and Bea Phear in fifth place overall.
At the August 1, 7 pm game at the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury, 10 pairs competed. First place overall went to Wally and Brian Epstein, followed by Sandy and Michael Lindheimer in second, John O’Keefe and Andy Jacknain in third, and Mollie Whalen and Cecily Greenaway in fourth place.
And at the August 3, 9:30 game of the Bridge Club of Martha’s Vineyard, eight tables were in play. Finishing in first place in the North-South direction were Carol Whitmarsh and Ken Judson, followed by Cheryl Neal and Barbara Alleyne in second, and Kay Kendall and Iris Capobianco in third. For East-West pairs, Ann Brown and Ted Poritz finished first, followed by Vicki Aldeborgh and Abe Seiman in second, and Brooks Robards and Jim Kaplan in third place.
