It was a festive and sweet occasion at the Beach Plum Inn on Friday afternoon, with friends, family, and Island visitors attending to celebrate Peter Simon’s photographic legacy and view the just released “Vineyard Calendar, 2020.” Peter’s 15 color photographs from the calendar lined the walls, with black-and-white photos in racks for viewing, and his several books on display. Ronni Simon greeted guests who viewed the impressive body of work and shared their stories of their special friendship with Peter — a remarkable artist, a dedicated and loyal softball enthusiast, an avid photographer who took pictures of their children each year, and of course, a lover of life and the Vineyard. Ronni noted that it was the insistence of their son Willie that they needed to produce a 2020 calendar that ultimately pushed her to do it. Many visitors left with several copies of the new impressive 2020 calendar under their arms. So, we share this event in the “Vineyard Scene” style that Peter would have done for us — as a salute to our friend and colleague. Thanks for the memories, Peter.
