Island swimmer Zoe Thompson, who is coached by YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard swimming guru Jen Passafiume, conquered the Isleboro Crossing in Maine last week, swimming the nippy Casco Bay 3.1-mile race in 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Thompson’s effort raised more than $10,000 in pledges for Maine’s Lifeflight Foundation service, a key responder service in remote and rural Maine.

This is Thompson’s second go at it. Last year she raised $5,300, and swam the course in 1 hour and 38 minutes, after years out of the water until she enlisted Passafume’s training help.
