The Steamship Authority named Mattapoisett resident Alison Fletcher director of shoreside operations, filling a vacancy left when operations director Mark Rozum was appointed as treasurer and comptroller. However, some of Rozum’s former duties now fall under Mark Amundsen, recently hired director of marine operations.
“Ms. Fletcher has been an SSA employee since 2001, when she first worked as a seasonal ticket seller,” a release states. “She later served as a janitor and dock worker before becoming an associate terminal agent in Woods Hole in 2015. For the past several months, she has been working in the operations department and has been a member of the project team that is developing the materials in the SSA’s Learning Management System.”
Fletcher will oversee “the day-to-day activities of the terminals, parking lot operations, and reservations teams operations,” the release states. She will also “assist in development of operating schedules, expansion of training programs, and the transition to a process-based environment with the implementation of a Quality Management System.”
“I am thankful for the opportunity [to] be taking on this new role at the Steamship Authority,” Fletcher said in the release. “I am eager to help lead the organization into an exciting new era by being part of the team that is developing process-based management systems.”

Is this role akin to being appointed to manage the icebergs for the RMS Titanic?
It beats being shoreside operations manager for MV Honey Company.
