Pop-up brunch will benefit Friends of Family Planning

Forget about Thanksgiving leftovers when Cinnamon Starship and friends offer a pop-up brunch to benefit Friends of Family Planning on Sunday, Dec. 1, from 9 am to 2 pm at Beach Road Restaurant in Vineyard Haven.
Friends of Family Planning of Martha’s Vineyard supports the Family Planning Clinic on the Island and, according to a press release, supports “compassionate, inclusive, life-spectrum sexual health care for all people in our community.” The release says the organization’s vision is to provide for a community where all people are empowered to access quality sexual health services in a nonjudgmental, affirming, and respectful environment.
Community initiatives of Friends of Family Planning include the Monthly Tide Project that provides high-quality, organic menstrual products to the Island Food Pantry, Dukes County Social Services, and the Martha’s Vineyard Family Planning Clinic, the Abortion Access Fund, which provides money to people who need but cannot afford off-Island abortion care and associated expenses, and the Vasectomy Reimbursement Program, which supports the costs of vasectomies, follow-up care, and travel expenses for individuals.

One hundred percent of profits at this event will benefit Friends of Family Planning, and takeout baked goods will be available for purchase. Olivia Pattison of Cinnamon Starship Bakery is donating her time and talent, the release says, because of her “belief in affordable and inclusive healthcare and resources, as well as access to local food for everyone.”
