Pop-up at Pandora’s Box

Vintage and varied goods available at this Menemsha favorite.

I went down to Menemsha to walk my dogs at sunset and found the Salt MV Pop-Up at Pandora’s Box. Inside was proprietor, designer, and arbiter of layback cool John Zannini.

“I thought of this on Thursday, got permission on Friday and opened on Saturday,” Zannini said. The shop, looking more like a men’s store, has vintage jeans, vintage outerwear, plus smart knit hats and baseball caps, letterpress cards and calendars, and a brass oyster keychain/bottle opener you can even have your initials engraved on. There’s an oyster knife, assorted handmade leather bracelets. J.P. Shepard, a local blacksmith, and Zannini collaborated on the coolest bowline knot clasp leather belts. He’s got Groovy Sugar and Dirty Salt to add to your pantry. Gorgeous bandannas paying homage to majestic whales. His popular masks that sold at Pandora’s Box all summer have been replenished — who wouldn’t want Japanese indigo chambray and Italian poplin against your skin?

Colin Ruel walked in just as I was leaving. Please know the Ruel Gallery will be open until Christmas as well.
