The defending champion Creamers held off a furious charge by the Snaps to win, 8-7, Tuesday night under the lights in MV Women’s Softball League play at Veterans Park.
The Creamers built a 6-1 lead before the Snaps plated three runs in the sixth inning. Kendall Robinson tripled to score Lindsay Kleeman in the top of the seventh and later crossed the plate with what proved to be the game-winning run. The Snaps responded with three more runs in their final at bat but the Creamers put the game away on a 6-3 grounder from Kelly Silvia to Anne Sullivan.
The top four batters in the Creamers lineup, Kleeman, Robinson, Sullivan and Kelly Bowse, each had two hits in four at bats. Lauren Merry and Amy Maciel had three hits apiece for the Snaps, with Elissa Decosta and Emily Monteiro each adding two more.
