The Creamers improved to 9-1 at the top of the MV Women’s Softball League standings by beating the Mama’s Girls, 13-1, Tuesday night at Veterans Park.

Team Cream rang up nine hits and scored seven runs in the first inning to take command. Kelly Oaks and Sarah Strem finished with three hits apiece, and combined to score five runs. Linsday Kleeman, Alleyne Hughes, Kelly Bowse, Becca Sharp, Sam Burns, Tara Dinkel, Shawna O’Donnell, and Brae Ferguson each had two hits. Martha Scheffer hit a double in the fifth inning to score Jillian Sedlier for the Mamas run. Lauren Williston hit a double in the fourth, and Sue Sanford, Hayley Panek, and Caroline Davey added singles for the Mamas, who fell to 2-6.

In the nightcap, the Snaps scored two runs in the sixth inning, and held off the Rug Sox for a 4-2 win. The Sox had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t score, and dropped to 2-6.

The Rug Sox took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Snaps got a run back in the home half of the first after Lauren Merry brought Nicole Le Blond home on a sac fly. Merry singled in the fourth to earn her second RBI, scoring Summer De Souza. In the decisive sixth, Amy Maciel scored on an overthrow, and Kate Hennigan drove in Emily Monteiro with the final run. Maciel, Hennigan, Sue Stephenson, and Elissa Decosta each had two hits for the Snaps, who won their third straight game to even their record at 5-5.

The Snaps rallied from 8-1 down to defeat the Mama’s Girls last Thursday. Kelly Marolf belted a pair of homers, one over the right field fence and another inside the park. Elissa Decosta added another inside-the-parker. In Thursday’s other game, the Creamers shook off their first loss of the season with a 10-0 win over the Rug Sox. Kelly Oaks led the way with three doubles.
