Nate Luce leaves Island and Martha’s Vineyard Big Brother Big Sister

Martha’s Vineyard program director of the Big Brother Big Sister, or BBBS, Nate (“Skip”) Luce, will vacate the position following a permanent move off-Island.

“It’s a bittersweet announcement for our program,” J.R. Mell, regional director for BBBS of the Cape & Islands, said in a press release. “We’re saddened to see Nate leave Martha’s Vineyard, but we are thrilled he will continue working for our larger agency through BBBS of Eastern Massachusetts.”

Mell noted that Luce will continue to support the current on-Island matches, interview new volunteers, and enroll families remotely until the position is filled. Given the staffing transition, BBBS explains this has provided an opportunity to serve an unmet need on the Island — matching Portuguese-speaking youth with a mentor, as the agency aims for the new hire to be bilingual.

The agency is actively looking to fill the Martha’s Vineyard program coordinator position, and has posted the opening on its website,
