More than 300 runners from across the country competed in the Amity Island 5K on Sunday morning, starting and finishing at the Farm Institute in Katama. Tristan Forsyth of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania led the way with a time of 16:32.7.
Matthew Taylor of Pittsford, N.Y. was the race runner-up, clocking in at 16:55. Big Apple runner Ben Noble took third (17:25.3), Jeremy Alley-Tarter of Vineyard Haven was the fastest Islander, placing fourth (17:49.5), and Luke Stad of North Andover was fifth (17:59.7).
Edgartonian Douglas Cronin ran sixth overall in 18:34.7, Sam Fetters of West Tisbury was seventh (18:36), and J.J. Oldershaw of Lexington placed eighth (18:49.8).
Ann Restak of Vineyard Haven was the women’s winner and finished ninth overall in 19:02.9. Rachel Spirito from Denver, CO., was the women’s runner-up and placed tenth (19:13.4).
