The Steamship Authority’s oldest ferry, the Governor was sidelined Wednesday after an oil pressure alarm issue arose. The vessel returned to service Thursday.
“The issue is still under investigation,” SSA spokesperson Sean Driscoll emailed at 7:30 pm Wednesday. “The Governor crew will run a trip on the Sankaty tonight to accommodate vehicles that were displaced by the cancellations.”
In a text message Thursday morning Driscoll described the problem, which had been remedied, as “operational” as opposed to “mechanical” but declined to elaborate.
“The low oil alarm was an operational issue that was identified and corrected,” Driscoll messaged. “There was no mechanical repair necessary and no damage done and the USCG cleared the vessel for sailing.”
The vessel began with its 5:30 am trip, he wrote.
