A winter storm could dump up to three inches of snow on the Island this afternoon into the evening as a coastal storm passes by, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
As a result of the predicted storm, schools are closing early on the Vineyard Monday, according to a notice sent to parents. Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School will close at 11 am and the Island’s elementary schools will be released at 12 noon. All after school activities are canceled, according to the email from Superintendent Matt D’Andrea.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School will have an 11 am dismissal due to the weather, according to director Pete Steedman. Families have been notified.
Snow and gusty winds are in the forecast after 12 noon, according to a NWS post. Nantucket is expected to bear the brunt of this storm.
