The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce has started a search for its executive director.
Current director Carolina Cooney issued her resignation last month, and will stay on while the chamber finds her replacement.
“As the voice of business and tourism for Martha’s Vineyard’s six towns, the MVCC plays a crucial role in fostering a prosperous business environment while promoting the Vineyard as a premier destination,” the chamber said in a recent release. “The executive director will lead the Chamber in its mission to support the economic health of the region by implementing strategic initiatives and providing resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities for its members.”
The Chamber is requiring that the hire live on Martha’s Vineyard.
Responsibilities for the new position would include overseeing chamber business activities, collaborating with regional tourism councils and government representatives, and representing the chamber at community events.
The MVCC requires that candidates possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with at least five years of administrative experience, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.
