A dead seal was reported washed up on East Chop Beach in Oak Bluffs on Saturday.
Ainsley Smith, marine mammal stranding coordinator at the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), says the stranding was first reported yesterday and that it is unknown how the seal may have died.
The seal appeared to show wounds on its lower back, and its skull was largely exposed.
