Ryan Dacko, author of “The Book of Quint,” a prequel to “Jaws,” will be on-Island during Amity Week. Dacko’s novel provides details and backstory to enhance the performances in the original movie. In the book, Quint survives the greatest naval tragedy in history with the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. A number of events bring him to Amity Island, where he becomes a legend of the North Atlantic.
Quint struggles with survivor’s guilt from war, post-traumatic stress from losing his friends to sharks, a psychological battle against a cunning politician, and an island that wields a great secret. Dacko invites readers to experience “The Book of Quint” and watch “Jaws” again for the first time. The author will share information about navigating the pitfalls of modern-day publishing, working with agents, and developing a novel for the silver screen.
