Scholarship season is underway for the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation. The foundation announced in a press release that its 2026 scholarship season began on Jan. 16. Applications are due by midnight on March 13.
Students of all ages are invited to apply for scholarships that can help fund college classes, graduate-level programs, certificates, professional development, or career training programs.
Elizabeth Bennett, program manager at Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation, said she couldn’t say how money will be awarded this year yet.
“We’ll have that information in late April, closer to the time that the review committee meets,” Bennett said in an email. “We have 32 scholarship funds to pull from!”
Applications can be submitted online at marthasvineyardcf.org/scholarships, where a “list of funds for specialized fields of study” can also be found. A Brazilian-Portuguese translation, provided by the Community Ambassador Partnership, is available upon request. For questions or to request translation assistance, email Bennett at elizabethbennett@marthasvineyardcf.org.
According to the foundation’s release, it is one of the largest providers of scholarships on the Vineyard, and is “one of the few that support students at every level of education.”
The foundation has awarded more than 2,310 scholarships since 1984, totalling more than $5.3 million. A record-breaking $375,000 in scholarships was awarded last year “through its annual spring cycle alone, marking the largest total in the foundation’s history.” That total allowed 128 Islanders to pursue “college and graduate degrees, certification and vocational training, and professional development programs.”
