The Vineyard Cribbage Club has cool swag, including baseball caps and t-shirts, and they subscribe to magazines produced by the American Cribbage Club. —Dena Porter

Our Wednesday night Cribbage Club met this past week. Still numb as reality sets in. I keep thinking Tricia and Roy are on vacation and will be back. As corny as that sounds, it helps. So I do it.

Since the first of the year, we have welcomed seven new members! One of them is a talented carpenter, and is making us more cribbage boards. This is just awesome.

TWENTY-EIGHT of us played, and the results are as follows:

First, ME! Mary Alice Russell with an 11/5 +77 card

Second, George Giosmas with a 10/5 +41 card

Third, David Christiansen with a 9/4 +59 card

Fourth, Jack Silvia with a 9/4 +55 card

Fifth, Albion Alley with a 9/4 +39 card

Sixth, Ed Montesion with an 8/4 +51 card

Seventh, Merrily Fenner! with an 8/4 +22 card

We had 4 24-point hands, by Mary Alice Russell, Sebastian Bennett-Rock, Richard Clark, and David Christiansen. David Pothier got the elusive flush crib, and the smack-daddy of the night was a 28-point hand by Doug Werther! Amazing! Eleven people were skunked — they lost the game by more than 30 points!

Collin Evanson, Jack Silvia, and I went off-Island this past weekend to compete in an ACC tournament in honor of Roy and Tricia. Jack was the highest qualifier, with an amazing 28/12 +298 card! He made it to the final four in the playoffs, and we were able to make the last boat back.

We welcome anyone who plays cribbage to join us on Wednesday nights at the American Legion in Katama. We share a potluck at 5:30 pm, and start play at 6 sharp. Please contact me at 508-524-1220 or maonmv@mac.com (text is best!). Happy pegging!
