From Wednesday, May 6, through Sunday May 10, Circuit Arts will be presenting “No Bones: A Comedy Festival of Humerus Proportions.” Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven and the Strand Theatre in Oak Bluffs will be the venues.
The event is a co-production with Abby Bender Schmantze Theatre, and promises to be “a festival of the weird, the wired, and the wonderful.” The eclectic lineup of talent from Martha’s Vineyard, New York City, and beyond include headliners Grand Dame of Comedy Susan Rice and NPR personality and true comic’s comic Ophira Eisenberg.
The festival will include a clowning workshop, the group TBD Improv, and multiple variety shows featuring local talent.
“After years of exploring the intersection of movement and humor through a Comedy in Dance Festival I used to run in the city, I’m crazy excited to bring that spirit here,” says Abby Bender, No Bones curator and artist, and co-founder of the riotously popular Built on Stilts. “Comedy comes in countless forms, and this festival feels like a joyful collision of all those worlds. Laughter is the emotional override we all need right now, and I’m thrilled to be in such great company as we bring that to our Island audience.” All performances are for people ages 18 and up. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, unless listed otherwise. Tickets and full details can be found at circuitarts.org/nobones. A full listing of Circuit Arts events can be found at circuitarts.org/events.
