13-year-old Daphne Roberts is an award-winning Afro/Caribbean storyteller and will be performing for the Cottagers 70th anniversary on July 2nd at 10 am, and at the Sankofa Festival at the Oak Bluffs Library on August 1 at 10 am. There will also be a Q & A with Daphney at the library and an activity for kids.
“I grew up listening to folktales from my grandma and great grandma who are from the Caribbean,” Daphne says. “I think in this digital age it is important to preserve oral history and traditions.”
Daphney has earned recognition for her creativity and stage presence. She enjoys writing screenplays, spending time with friends, and exploring the outdoors. As an active member of her school’s rowing team, she also plays the violin, and participates in musical theater productions.
