To the Editor:

Thank you to the Edgartown Transfer Station for its attempt to make resident trash removal and recycling more efficient. However, I do hope that one design flaw can be corrected. Entering the transfer station, residents are directed to the right, onto a one-lane road. Because of new fencing, drivers cannot see if there are no cars in line to pay, or if there are 10. My experience last week was getting stuck for nearly 20 minutes when I could have come back another day. There is no way to turn around. What if there were an emergency? What if someone was dropping off trash on the way to the ferry?

Let’s hope there’s a fix.
