This weekend, the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse will present Brooke Adams and Marilu Henner in “Pen Pals,” a smash hit from the 2025– 26 Off-Broadway season.
‘Pen Pals’ charts five decades of letters between Bernie and Mags, two women who have never met in person. In the original production, the cast rotated every two weeks. Directed by Michael Griffo, Adams and Henner will be reprising their roles at the Playhouse for three nights only.
“When we did it in New York, [Henner] was slated to do it with someone else, and that person fell through, so she said, ‘How about Brooke?’” Adams notes. “It’s fun, and I love working with Marilu, and I get to do an English accent. Across the board, people just love this thing. I said, ‘It would be so fun to do this on the Vineyard,’ so I called everyone and made it happen. I love the Vineyard, and I love Brooke [Hardman] and Brian [Ditchfield], and doing this just seemed like a no-brainer.”
“Pen Pals” will run August 7 to 9 at 7 pm at the M.V. Playhouse, Church Street, Vineyard Haven.
