To the Editor:
This summer, 464 children signed up for the Edgartown library’s summer reading program, collectively reading thousands of books and spending countless hours immersed in stories. Since its inception many decades ago, the program has aimed to foster a lifelong love of reading. We’re incredibly grateful to the Friends of the Edgartown Public Library and to three local businesses — Edgartown Pizza, Edgartown Meat & Fish, and Great Harbor Market and Depot Market — for supporting the program this year.
In addition to receiving a summer reading T shirt featuring this year’s theme, “Unearth a Story,” participants had the opportunity to redeem coupons for treats at these local businesses. These rewards brought so much excitement to our young readers, while recognizing their dedication to reading throughout the summer. The generosity of local small businesses makes programs like this possible, and we’re deeply grateful for their support.
