I’ve owned a home on Hines Point for more than 20 years. During that time I’ve seen property taxes increase dramatically to support services that I rarely use, including the public schools. I gladly support education, but when I read about resistance to spending $1.5 million (“The time is now to fix Five Corners,” Sept. 24) to solve the flooding that occurs at Five Corners in every rainstorm, it’s frustrating. This is something that affects every full-time and summer resident of Vineyard Haven, and should be addressed as soon as possible.
