From the spooky to the family friendly, the Island was alive with the spirit of Halloween this weekend. Local businesses opened their doors to Halloween revelers as Islanders of all ages showed off costumes of both classic characters and new favorites in Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, and Edgartown. The costume parade on Main Street in Vineyard Haven featured ghosts, gremlins, clowns, sharks, and many more creative pieces.

The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School also decorated downtowns with handmade scarecrows that benefit the art department. This year’s theme, “literary characters,” inspired students across all grades to bring their favorite characters to life.
