Deborah Susanne Spillane, 59, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Debbie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose kindness, strength, and unconditional love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.

Debbie dedicated many years of service to the Steamship Authority before retiring. A certified nutritionist health specialist, she was passionate about health and wellness, and enjoyed staying active, cooking, and encouraging others to live healthy lives. She was incredibly strong and resilient, enduring pain that most people could not imagine with remarkable courage and determination. Debbie was goal-oriented and worked tirelessly to achieve her dreams, including owning a home on Martha’s Vineyard and, one day, retiring to Florida. Although that dream was cut short, she never lost her hope, determination, or love for life.

Above all else, Debbie treasured the time she spent with her family. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her son, Jimmy, and a Gigi to her cherished granddaughter, Cam. She was also a devoted sports enthusiast who loved cheering on the New England Patriots while watching games with family and friends, creating many treasured memories together.

Debbie is survived by her beloved son, James Mahoney and his wife, Paige; and by her cherished granddaughter, Camryn Mahoney, who brought her endless joy. She was the loving daughter of George S. Moses and the late Martha E. Moses. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Martha and David Hester, Janet and Thaddeus Johnson, George and Patricia Moses, and Marilyn Moses and Alan Schweikert.

She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will cherish the memories they shared with her.

A memorial Mass celebrating Debbie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 11 am at St. Augustine’s Church, Franklin Street, Vineyard Haven. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate her life.
