Sarah Shaw Dawson
Sarah Shaw Dawson is a born-and-raised Islander from Oak Bluffs. She attended the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and the University of Vermont. Sarah started at The Martha’s Vineyard Times as a freelancer and developed a love for journalism as well as a passion for informing the community she grew up in. Sarah is now the health, housing, and education reporter and the first Island Writer. She won two awards for her housing reporting from the New England Newspaper & Press Association in 2025. When she’s not reporting and writing, Sarah is often playing with her band, Sarah Shaw Dawson & Friends, or working as a vocalist with other local musicians, with friends and family, at a yoga class, or at the beach with her dog, Gracie.
