Tisbury Farm Market held the first of several wine and cheese tastings last Friday evening. From 5 to 7 pm, shoppers were treated to several varieties of red wines, Prosecco, and cheeses from Italy, under the tutelage of store manager Steve Harris.

A steady crowd of about ten gathered around the display while Mr. Harris talked about the wines and cheeses, and answered questions. All four types of cheeses, from the hard pecorino Toscana stagionoto, to the soft Robiola due latti, were available for purchase at the store.

Tomorrow’s tasting, from 5 to 7 pm, will feature wines and cheeses from Spain.

ArtCliff for dinner

This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 5:30 to 9:30, the ArtCliff Diner in Vineyard Haven will be open for dinner. Chef Robert Lionette, formerly of Zephrus, will cook entrees such as braised short ribs, lamb shanks, duck confit, and more.

5 for $5

From now through March, take advantage of Waterside Market’s $5 menu with five items: the Egg Salad Wrap, Grilled Three Cheese, Classic BLT, Garden Salad, and Breakfast Burrito.

Wings and oysters

This Friday is Offshore Ale Co.’s third week of Wings and Oysters, their Friday special that features $.25 chicken wings and $1 oysters. But there’s more going on at the brew pub. The Monday two-for-one entrée deal is widely popular; on Thursdays, redeem gift certificates dated before 12/31/09 and get an additional 25 percent more value; and on Sundays, receive one free movie ticket to Edgartown Cinemas with the purchase of two entrees. Additional passes, one per entrée, can be purchased for $4 each.

Good deal

All Island Club Card members get 20 percent off (normally 10 percent off) all food at The Wharf in Edgartown, through February 21.

Closing time

State Road Restaurant wraps up its first season this weekend, and will remain closed until the beginning of March. It’s open this Thursday through Saturday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
