To the Editor:
I would like to thank with all my heart the two brave men that saved my small dog from certain death last Sunday, April 11.
I live in Boston now, but return to the Island often to visit my family. This past Sunday, midday, my sister and I were out walking our small, leashed dogs when a large, unleashed dog, seemingly coming from nowhere, brutally attacked my dog by the throat. One man came rushing from his yard to wrestle the attacking dog. Another man stopped his truck and got out to help us. Together they were somehow able to release my dog from the larger dog’s teeth. Thank you.
The injuries my dog received are serious but not life threatening, thanks to these brave men.
This is the fourth time in as many months that either my sister or I have been walking our dogs and have come upon unleashed large dogs. Sunday, thankfully, we were walking them together.
This is a plea to all dog owners to please restrain their animals. I would never want another dog or dog owner to experience or witness such a vicious attack.
