Mother’s Day on Martha’s Vineyard

One way to celebrate your mom this Sunday, Mother’s Day, is to take her to brunch. Usually a lively meal no matter what restaurant you pick, it’s perfect even for little ones.

You can start your day off at Farm Neck Café. The Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet, from 10 am to 2 pm, is $34.95; $18.95 for kids under 12. If it’s nice out, dine outside on the brick patio. Or, sit inside and enjoy the beautiful grounds, and birds in the feeders.

Also in Oak Bluffs, Mediterranean serves a brunch buffet while Jeremy Berlin plays jazz. Reservations are recommended, and brunch is $20 for adults, $10 for children.

In Edgartown, there is a Grand Mother’s Day Buffet at The Grill on Main, featuring lamb, ham, and cod for main courses, and starters such as cream of asparagus soup, salads, and a raw bar. Enjoy an array of desserts to finish. Price is $36; $15 for children under 12.

Find a crepe station, raw bar, prime rib, and desserts at Water Street at the Harbor View, for $48; $24 for children 12 and under; free for under 3. Brunch is from 11 am to 3 pm, and reservations are strongly suggested.

At Lure Grill at the Winnetu Oceanside and Resort, Mother’s Day Brunch is from 9:30 am to 2 pm, and also includes tons of kids’ activities such as fire truck rides, a scavenger hunt, photographs, and prizes. While adults enjoy leisurely dining, there is a play area for children adjacent to the dining room.

And l’etoile celebrates the holiday with brunch, from 10:30 am to 2 pm, and dinner, from 6 to 9 pm. For a prix fixe price of $39, enjoy entrees such as Lemon Souffle Pancakes with strawberries, blackberries, and topped with Grand Marnier whipped mascarpone cream, or Roasted, Harissa-Spice rubbed lamb leg with horseradish whipped potatoes, red zinfandel and rosemary jus. Appetizers include Wild Asparagus and Watercress Soup with butter-poached crab meat.

State Road Restaurant in West Tisbury offers brunch from 8 am to 2 pm, with a la carte menu items such as Trout Tacos and Maple Glazed Baked Ham with potato pancakes. Pastry chef Rose’s creations for the day include Banana Cream Pie with shaved organic dark chocolate and Strawberry Rhubarb Trifle with mascarpone sorbet.

Lambert’s Cove Inn and Restaurant in West Tisbury serves brunch from 11 am to 3 pm. Menu items include Lobster, Scallions, and Cheddar Croissant Scramble served with home-friend potatoes; Shrimp with Farfalle Pasta, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, red onions, and a white wine sauce; and Steak and Eggs: roasted beef medallions with scrambled eggs, home-fried potatoes, and toast.

And, if brunch is not on your schedule but dinner is, it’s worth knowing that moms get free dessert at Offshore Ale Co. during lunch and dinner. If two entrees are ordered for dinner, you receive a free movie pass to Edgartown Cinemas.

The Sweet Life Café offers a Mother’s Day Champagne Dinner that includes a prix fixe menu and a complimentary glass of champagne.
