To an incubating osprey mom

0

After her high-piched scream splits the morning air,

it’s hard to forget her intense glare.

Here’s the explanation her behavior begs:

mom osprey is sitting on three or four eggs.

Sitting deep in her nest on an Island road,

she desires solitude near her abode.

The only exception to this wish:

her mate’s arrival with a fish.

She’ll add several little ones to osprey nation

after a thirty-day period of incubation.

She is truly an incredible creature

and a fascinating Vineyard feature.
