This weekend, The Yard wrapped up its 2010 season with the 2010 Bessie Schönberg Choreographers’ Residency Concert. Selected from an international pool of applicants, four choreographers were chosen: Greg Dolbashian, Yara Travieso, Ximena Garnica, and veteran Marta Renzi.
Familiar faces graced the stage, as the concert included an intergenerational piece featuring Vineyard dancers Claire Baione, Carol Loud, Daryl Owens, Sabrina Reppert, and Maggie Sarmiento. For more on Ms. Loud, see this week’s Community section.
The Yard’s summer interns also performed in the intergenerational piece. They were summer-long intern Rebecca Haverson, and Michelle Sasso, Melissa West, and Alyssa Derling, who had two-month stints with the dance colony.
The Yard 2011 Company Residency application deadline has been extended recently to October 31. For all genres of dance, it involves a four-week residency for professional dance companies in the Chilmark space. Companies receive housing, a stipend, rehearsal space, mentoring, technical support, and a full public performance of their new work.
