Deon Thomas had been in the kitchen long before he opened his first Vineyard restaurant. Having grown up in Jamaica, Mr. Thomas has been cooking Caribbean food since high school.
Since 2000, Mr. Thomas and his wife Emily have opened and operated four restaurants on the Vineyard and Anguilla: The Cornerway and Deon’s Restaurant on the Vineyard, and The Overlook and Ku on Anguilla. His most recent venture, Deon’s Restaurant in Oak Bluffs, features fresh fish, chicken, ribs, and goat cooked in spicy, Caribbean flavor sauces. Deon’s also boasts a potent rum punch, and a tasty slice of key lime pie.
Learn from the chef (and taste a sample) this coming Wednesday at LeRoux at Home, when Mr. Thomas kicks off the start of LeRoux’s weekly Cooking Demonstrations, from 11 am to 1 pm.
