Tickets for the fourth annual Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival, to be held October 15 and 16, are on sale now for all events: classes, seminars, the opening party, and the Grand Tasting. Approximately 600 guests are expected to attend, according to a press release.
New this year, the festival is working to become zero-waste. All flatware, plates, cups, and napkins are compostable and from event co-sponsor ECO-MV.
The weekend kicks off Friday night with a free opening party at Eisenhauer Gallery sponsored by The Liberty Hotel in Boston. Enjoy local artists, live music, and wine provided by Ruby Wines. At 7 pm, the Opening Reception featuring the wines of Joseph Carr starts at The Boathouse Field Club. Tickets are $125 and include BBQ by chef Andy Husbands and Bravo’s Top Chef Dave Martin; a silent and live auction; and music by Jerry Bennett and the Sultans of Swing.
Saturday’s events run the gamut from Sake 101 and Food Pairing with Nancy Cushman, sake sommelier from o ya, Boston; to Port 101: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Port But Were Afraid to Ask, with Dan Carbon, former marketing director of Symington Family Estates’ brands Dow’s and Graham’s Ports. The Grand Tasting ($50 for residents; $100 for non-residents) is from 2 to 5 pm at The Boathouse Field Club. In addition to wine tastings, there will be chef demonstrations.
In addition to the seminars and tastings, there are several Wine Dinners hosted at various residential homes. For more information, visit mvfoodandwine.com.
