County offers prescription discount service

Dukes County has partnered with Financial Marketing Concepts Inc., (FMC) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to launch a new prescription drug discount program for county residents.

The program will save uninsured and underinsured residents of Dukes County up to 65 percent off the retail price of drugs, according to a county press release.

The program provides residents, regardless of income, age, or health status, with a “Coast2Coast Rx” card. The Rx card will be distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Dukes County and throughout the nation and includes more than 60,000 drugs in its formulary, according to the release.

Once launched, the new program will allow all Dukes County residents. FMC said the program has already saved cardholders in other counties an average of 45 percent in 2010 on the cost of prescription drugs. Even pets and family members living outside the county are able to take part in the program.

“With healthcare costs on the rise, prescription drug discounts will help ease some of the financial burdens County families are facing at a time when they need it the most,” Carlene Gatting, chairman of the Dukes County commission, said. “There are no eligibility requirements, so the Rx card is expected to have a sizeable impact on uninsured residents, residents facing high insurance deductibles, and those with prescriptions not covered by their current plans.”

There is no cost to the County. FMC said it will pay the County a royalty on card use.

The card also provides 50-80 percent discounts for lab and imaging tests, FMC said.

Martin Dettelbach, Chief Marketing Officer of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the issuer of the Coast2Coast Rx free discount card, said, “We are pleased to work with the County to help individuals, their families and pets combat the rising cost of healthcare.”

The Coast2Coast Rx card is available at most participating pharmacies, the county offices, libraries, and health facilities. For more information go to coast2coastrx.com or call the county office at 508-696-3840.
