Brrrr! That groundhog may have predicted an early spring, but right now I am chilled to the bone. I remember my dad joking “Can’t wait ’til February” on particularly gorgeous summer days when I was a kid. I didn’t get the joke then, and I must admit, I still don’t. But we carry on, knowing warm days are ahead, and hey, at least it’s still light out at five o’clock. That’s something.
Trader Fred Mascolo has been making the rounds on both the silver and small screen recently, with cameos in Jim Belushi’s new show “The Defenders” as well as the Farrelly Brothers’ “Hall Pass.” You have one more chance to catch him on “The Defenders,” which airs Friday at 8 pm on CBS. Fred’s work on “Jumping the Broom,” a film set on the Vineyard, earned him recognition from the governor as TV and Movie Liaison for Martha’s Vineyard, when Sony Colombia TriStar wrote a letter of praise on Fred’s behalf. Way to go, Fred.
A belated happy birthday goes out to Francine James from your friends in the Anchors day group. Francine celebrated her day January 29, and though her friends let me know well in advance, their message was misplaced somewhere out there in the cell phone ether, only to appear two days ago. So my apologies. I look forward to the day we all throw our cell phones in the harbor and go back to writing letters. Then the fish can be well-connected and we can have some peace. Anyway, hope you had a lovely day, Ms. James.
Another belated happy birthday goes out to Maisie Sherman, who turned six on February 1. Kate Sherman reports that Maisie’s grandparents from Wisconsin made the trip east for the festivities, and fun was had by all.
Coo Cavallo wishes a happy anniversary to his honey, Donna. The two celebrated 25 years on Valentine’s Day. How sweet.
