This Chilmark turtle takes its sweet time
to cross a double yellow line.
So every driver must play a role
to help this slow-mover reach its goal.
Though a slow-moving turtle may cause drivers fear,
it’s easier to miss than a fast-moving deer.
Can you imagine a more mis-matched pair,
than this critter with a fast-moving hare?
It can’t run like a hare or hop like a toad;
so why did the turtle cross the road?
If this obvious question requires a clue,
it crossed for the same reason chickens do.
