The Vineyard Tennis Center hosted a mixed doubles tournament for the Matha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group last weekend.
Richard Cohen and Susan Stevens paired for the first time to win their first round over Edie Blake and James Prichard.
Their second match went to a tie-breaker before Todd Hollister and Tammy King bowed, 8-4, 5-7, 11-7.
Grace Simkins and David Kelliher also paired for the first time and made their way to the finals, beating Sue Peltier and Ray Lincoln 6-3, 6-0, then beat Cohen and Stevens by the same score.
In the consolation draw Diane Morgan and Phil Mercer bested Susan Johnson and Ed Higham, 6-1, 6-0 and Megan Farell and Tyark Aldebourgh, 6-3, 6-4.
Doreen Rezendes and Leo McHugh will take on Diane Morgan and Phil Mercer in the consolation round Thursday. They beat Edie Blake and James Prichard 6-3, 6-1 in their second round and topped Sue Peltier and Ray Lincoln, 6-3, 6-3.
The finals drew the largest gallery to see Grace Simkins and David Kelliher best Lili Cooperrider and Skip Dostal, 7-5, 6-4.
