The Martha’s Vineyard Little League celebrated the start of the new season with a parade Saturday morning down Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs.

Players from all four leagues — tee-ball, farm league, minor, and major league teams — coaches, and parents made their way from the Oak Bluffs police station and on to Veira Park for the opening ceremonies.

Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School sophomore Sammi Chaves sang the “Star Spangled Banner” to begin the festivities. Players from each team lined up along the basepaths and waved their caps as they were introduced to the crowd.

Following the ceremony, players from all 24 teams posed for pictures.

At noon, the Cubs and Pirates took to the Veira Park field to start off a busy day of Little League action around the Island.
