Was it not just yesterday that I was looking forward to the snow? And now here we are in June. There is a similarity, though — I still have to give my car a good brushing off each time I go to use it, only now pollen is the enemy rather than snow.
I spent an afternoon this past weekend sitting on Oak Bluffs Harbor with friends, and we couldn’t help feeling like we were on vacation just by having left Edgartown. That is, until much of our usual Edgartown contingent converged on the Harbor as well. Jade and Dan Deslauriers and Ryan Murtha were among the familiar faces that popped up. Sunday Funday, indeed.
Tom Dresser is excited to announce that his new book, “The Wampanoag Tribe of Martha’s Vineyard: Colonization to Recognition,” has just been published and is available locally. The book is a history of the Tribe, with interviews and brief biographies of key members of the Tribe. Edgartown Books has ordered a number of copies, so it will be available along with his other books: “African Americans of Martha’s Vineyard,” “Mystery on the Vineyard,” and “Tommy’s Tour of the Vineyard.”

Happy belated birthday to Margaret Rankow, who celebrated May 23. Husband Norm reports that the two enjoyed a nice, quiet dinner at Détente, which must have been a welcome calm before having the whole gang home for the holiday weekend.
Birthday wishes go out to Hilary Grannis, who celebrates today, June 2 and to Kate Conde, June 4. To Denise Searle, who celebrates June 6, may your day be filled with sun and sand and lots of laughs.
