The Long and Meehan Snaps and the Mocha Mott’s Creamers met at Veterans Park, Tisbury, Tuesday evening, in the championship round of the Women’s Softball League playoffs. The Snaps won, 9-7.

The Snaps jumped off to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on three singles and a double after putting the Creamers away scoreless in the top of the inning.

The Creamers got one back in the top of the second banging out three base hits, then shutting out the Snaps in the bottom half of the second inning.

After disposing of the Creamers with a snappy double play in the third, the Snaps increased their lead to 5-1 in the bottom half with two runs on four hits including a pair for extra base hits.

The Creamers scored twice in the top of the fourth but the Snaps responded with four and taking a 9-3 lead.

That was as far as the Snaps would go. The talent-laden Creamers rallied for four runs in the fifth to draw close, but could not “pass go” as the Snaps shut the gate maintaining a two-run edge and claiming the season’s top honors.
