Classes begin
ACE MV announces its Winter/Spring semester of courses, beginning January 21, with registration open now online at acemv.org or in person January 17 and 18 at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, from 4:30 to 6 pm.
Among the professional development courses there are five three-credit undergraduate and graduate courses through Cape Cod Community College and Fitchburg State, all taught on the Island. They include Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum Planning for Young Children, and Teaching for Global and Community Competency through Art and Culture and Education Practicum in Brazil.
An informational session on all credit courses will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 pm at the high school.
Take part in ITW
Island Theatre Workshop, a community theater group, will hold its annual meeting this Sunday, Jan. 8, from 2 to 4 pm at its home at 12 Music Street in West Tisbury. The meeting is for anyone interested in becoming part of the group. Light refreshments will be served, and a $5 annual membership fee collected. For more information, call 508-627-3166.
Cultural Luncheon Series begins
After a successful run in 2011, the Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living will start up its continuing Cultural Luncheon Series on Saturday, Jan. 14. The group, open to all, will honor the Scottish influence on the Vineyard at a traditional Scottish lunch (with a taste of haggis) at The Grill On Main in Edgartown, with guest speaker Steve Ewing and bagpiper Howard Hall. Chicken and karaoke
Hearty home cooking and karaoke are on the menu at Grace Episcopal Church in Vineyard Haven this Saturday night, Jan. 7, from 5 to 9 pm. The dinner features fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and homemade slaw. An upbeat and hilarious night of karaoke follows.
