Sossos A. Delis, 92, formerly of Hyannis, husband of Agatha Y. (Napert) Delis, died in Den Mar Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rockport on the morning of Sunday, January 8, 2012.

Sossos was born in Mytilene, Lesvos, Greece, on February 13, 1919, the son of the late Alexander and Persophone (Michalara) Deligianis. He was a veteran of the Greek Army during World War II and attended two years of business college while living in Greece. For many years he and his wife owned and operated the West End Food Shop in Hyannis. Sossos and his wife Agatha lived with his son Michael and his fiance Crystal in Edgartown for a brief time.

He was a very active 32 degree Mason, a Shriner, a Past Master of Fraternal Lodge in Centerville, past High Priest of Orient Lodge Chapter in Centerville, and Past Grand Steward of Royal Arch. He was past president of the Hyannis Rotary Club, a past president of the Boston Order of Ahepa, and a member of Cape Cod Order of Ahepa. He was on the Board of Directors of the Barnstable Senior Center in Hyannis for many years and was a citizen volunteer for the Barnstable Police Department.

He is survived by his two sons, Alexander Delis and his wife, Pamela, of Gloucester, Michael Delis and his fiancé, Crystal Roy, of Edgartown; one sister, Theanoula Tzelaides of Mytilene, Lesvos, Greece; and one grandchild, Zachary Delis of Gloucester. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Michael of Mytilene, Lesvos, Greece and Socrates of Athens, Greece.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 11 am in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., in Gloucester. Family and friends are cordially invited. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 11 am in the Fraternal Lodge Af & Am, 1989 Falmouth Road, in Centerville. Family and friends are cordially invited.
