Things are hopping in West Tisbury this winter.

For starters, Yes, We Have No Bananas on State Road has been re-invented and there has been a change in leadership recently. The vintage, funky, unique clothing, accessories, and art venue is now under the sole proprietorship of Judy Hartford as her partner for the last eight years, Ellen Wolfe, has made a decision to down-size at this point in time.

Ms. Hartford, on the other hand, has decided to rise to the occasion and expand her business both at Bananas and her home store, Red Mannequin, on Dukes County Avenue in Oak Bluffs. Both stores will see changes this summer in the variety of what they offer, but will still keep their special, personalized services that makes shopping there feel more like an experience than a chore.

Ms. Hartford is thrilled to expand her store lines to include kids and men’s selections along with increasing the gallery portion with work by Kanta Lipsky (who has her art studio on the top floor of the Bananas building), Barbara Sandson’s photography, and the Wiggly Wood line by Kyle Carson, whom you might have seen at the Artisans Festivals. Bananas will also begin to carry one popular line of shoes, FLY London.

Along with the store’s lines of clothing and accessories, there are wonderful, and sometimes aromatic, selections of home goods. Red Mannequin, on the other hand, will reign in their selections to concentrate on truly great shoes. For more information, you may call Ms. Hartford directly at 508-696-5939, or visit Bananas most Saturday’s though the winter.

In other West Tisbury news, Julie Robinson Interiors is happily settled into the new log cabin building on 510 State Road, just past Up-Island Cronig’s heading south. The Best of the Vineyard winner is a welcomed new addition to West Tisbury. Stop by to visit the new showrooms and see the vast array of designer fabrics, wallpaper, along with their wonderful window treatments, just to name a few things. Pop in to visit them personally, call them at 508-693-5065, or visit their website at jrobinsoninteriors.com.
